Started in 1996 by a small group of home brewers in San Diego, Ballast Point Brewing Company explores new tastes and techniques to create the perfect balance of taste and aroma. From developing a proprietary yeast for our amber ale to creating a breakthrough gold medal-winning IPA, Ballast Point is dedicated to the craft of brewing beers for all to enjoy.
We’re incredibly excited about our latest releases—From the Manta Ra Double IPA to the Sea Rose tart cherry ale, there’s something for every taste and occasion.
MANTA RAY DOUBLE IPA (8.5% ABV, 70 IBUS)
This new IPA rises above the rest. We’ve developed many IPA recipes in our R&D program, but right from the tank, our Manta Ray Double IPA was a winner—and a 2016 Gold at the European confirmed our suspicion. Aromas of fresh, citrusy tangerine, melon and light pine leap from the beer and linger over a smooth finish. Like its namesake, this brew can sneak up on you – a big beer without a bite.
BONITO BLONDE ALE (4.5% ABV, 20 IBUS)
An approachable beer, with some substance. Our Bonito blonde ale is inspired by our perma-sunny days. This brew draws you in with its golden color and soft malt character, while the light mouthfeel and dry finish keeps you coming back. And what would set a San Diego blonde apart? A subtle hint of hops, naturally.
SEA ROSE TART CHERRY WHEAT ALE (4.0% ABV, 8 IBUS)
A crisp wheat ale with a tart cherry twist. Our Sea Rose tart cherry wheat ale is a fresh take on fruit beers. Originally conceived during an employee-led R&D brew, it’s one of our most imaginative recipes yet. The American wheat style is light and clean, while fresh cherry juice adds a soft coral color and fruity nose that gives way to a dry, slightly tart finish. It’s approachable, yet unexpected—exactly what we love to brew.

To deliver the best beer possible, we insist on using the best ingredients, new technology, climate-controlled environments and quality analysis at every stage. And attention to detail doesn’t stop once our beer is shipped. Our Field Quality Team aims to visit every region, every bar, and every store where our products are sold to check freshness dates and taste-test beers (tough job, right?).
