Featured Brewery of the Month: R.S. Taylor & Sons
Nov 03, 2017
R.S. Taylor and Sons Brewery grew out of the idea that beer is first and foremost an agricultural product and should be enjoyed as such. Licensed as a New York State Farm Brewery, R.S. Taylor and Sons sources at least 20% of their brewing ingredients within New York State. "Fresh, high-quality ingredients and pure spring water just make the best beer, period. And Washington County, being the heart of New York's farm country, is the best place to gather all these farm fresh ingredients for our beer,” says owner and head brewer, Richard S. Taylor.
R.S. Taylor and Sons Brewery
is located on Misty Bleu Farm, a 50 acre homestead in Hebron, New York built by the Taylor family in 2015 to house their brewery and tap room. Taylor, in addition to being the head brewer, is also a hop farmer and the hops grown on his farm invariably make their way into his English-style ales. "We are bucking the trend a bit by concentrating on English-style ales in a craft beer market that is saturated with over-the-top New England-style IPA's, but I believe the inherent drinkability of English styles will make them popular with craft beer drinkers - they just have to be exposed to good examples of them. After all, the British have been brewing beer for practically forever, so I'd say they know something about how to brew delicious beer," explains Taylor.
In addition to his English Ale and a Golden Ale, Taylor brews Sticky Fingers IPA, a West-Coast-style IPA; Cross Eyed Mary, an English Strong Ale; Cup of Wonder, a pale English Strong Ale; Canooski Coffee Porter; and a very popular Coconut Cream Stout based on Taylor's original oatmeal stout recipe.
R.S. Taylor and Sons Brewery currently operates two tap rooms - the original farm tap room and brewery located at 3602 County Route 30, Salem New York and a tap room located in downtown Saratoga Springs, New York at 26A Congress Street, Congress Plaza.
