It’s December, which means the days are shorter and snow is in our inevitable future. One positive aspect of this dreary time of year is holiday activities with friends and family. Whether you are heading to a Christmas party, celebrating Hanukkah, or any other festivity to close out 2017, you never want to show up to a party empty handed. No need to worry though, we have you covered with some phenomenal options that will help get the party started:
Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale - For our craft connoisseurs, it should be a no brainer to pick up a case of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale for any holiday gathering, especially if you don’t already have some in your fridge. This 6.8% ABV classic American IPA is the go-to for many of craft beer's biggest innovators and supporters and has been since 1981. Sierra Nevada’s use of cascade, centennial, and chinook hops produce an intense citrus and pine aroma that will make any hop head fall in love. Be sure to act quick on this one as it will not be on shelves for long!
Leinenkugel's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter - From the same crew out of Wisconsin who brought you the ever popular Summer Shandy, comes Leinenkugel's winter seasonal, Snowdrift Vanilla Porter. This full bodied, 6% ABV American porter makes for a great dessert beer with hints of cocoa, coffee, and caramel brought out by roasted malts and aged on real vanilla. This beer will pair nicely with any dessert that includes chocolate and cherrries.
Old Soul Cabernet Sauvignon - If you are trying to class it up and not break the bank, I suggest Old Soul Cabernet Sauvignon from Oak Ridge Winery out of Lodi, California. This fantastic, 13% ABV red wine contains ripe, dark fruit, and vanilla notes with a full bodied sweet fruit and creamy texture. Try pairing it with any meat dish that happens to come your way.
Cutwater Spirits Fugu Horchata - If you’re looking for something new and powerful to get the party rocking, look no further than the Fugu Horchata from Cutwater Spirits. For the rookies out there, Fugu Horchata is a delicious 80 proof vodka made with almond milk, cinnamon, rice, and vanilla. Drinking over ice is a must, however, if a mixed drink is what you’re looking for, then I recommend the Fugu White Russian:
- -1.5oz Horchata
- -1.5oz coffee liqueur
- -1oz heavy cream or half and half
These four options are sure to make you the hit of any holiday gathering. As always, enjoy responsibly, and until next season, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
