Adjuncts, Additives and Extra Ingredients: Are they always a bad thing in beer?

There is a stigma attached to the terms "adjunct" and "additive" in the craft beer world. The BJCP defines a style of lager with the term adjunct, and a lot of craft beer drinkers view that style, the American Adjunct Lager, as the antithesis of all that is craft. The truth is, many of the beers you may have consumed, including those from craft breweries, may have contained some form of adjunct or additive.
